Chester 4 Buxton 0 - 25.2.12

Chester report: It didn't take long for the Blues to get their noses ahead, after Chris Simm was sent through and despite the attentions of 2 defenders closing him down, he picked his spot firing past Scott Hartley in the Buxton goal after just 3 minutes. Bradley Barraclough then had an opportunity to level matters up when he burst into the penalty area on 17 minutes, but a last ditch block prevented him getting the ball to former Blue Mark Reed, who was well placed inside the penalty area. Kieran Lugsden then went into the book for a challenge on Jerome Wright, that left the Chester player requiring treatment. Stefan Cox then seized on an opportunity to make it 2-0 but dragged his effort wide of the post from the edge of the area. Chester increased their lead on the half hour mark in bizarre circumstances when Wes Baynes launched a speculative effort from a free kick just inside the Buxton half which ended up dropping over Hartley's head and into the back of the net. Buxton! struggled to get any chances in on goal, but on 35 minutes, a wayward effort from Lugsden proved no danger to Glennon's goal. A good 4 man move from the blues led to a corner just 2 minutes later, when Alex Brown orchestrated a fine piece of passing, which found its way through to McNeil who fed Wright, but his cross was headed away for a corner.
